Jenny Exley

Company Director and chartered landscape architect. Spatial perception was central to my research as a painter in my early career. I explored the dynamics of movement of forms and their relationship with time. My canvases were big and expansive, the juxtaposition of colours and spaces were to lay the foundation for my later studies of landscape architecture where I consider landscape is a fine art.

Using this palette of colour, form and texture I now create sculptural harmonious landscapes that seek to bring well being to those that use and experience them. My previous career as a teacher in mainstream schools, Lecturer, and craft assistant with physically handicapped has provided excellent grounding to the work we now undertake.

I have worked in-house for both local government and a multi disciplinary company, which has provided me with the ability to work closely with other disciplines: planners, architects, engineers and surveyors.

I am now the Senior Urban Design Officer for Brighton and Hove City Council, working principally with public realm and major projects.

I have recently joined the Landscape Institute Education Sub-Committee Accreditation for courses.
