Having completed her contract services for Brighton and Hove City Council, Jenny now is fully progressing with J.E.A., both as an Urban Designer and Chartered Landscape Architect. Her role as Senior Urban Design officer gave her the opportunity to follow through public realm projects:-
- vision plans-officer and community engagement- construction details in and around
- Valley Gardens, North Street, Old Town and the Seafront.
- feasibility study and sketch designs as the basis for a Heritage Lottery bid.
- Old Town Public Realm Appraisal and Management Plan document. (draft).
- landscape consultancy for Development Control.
The Jenny Exley Associates team have continued to work on sustainable projects, both in landscape and street scene design for a major residential scheme to Passiv Haus standards; external works for a high spec. New- Build college; won a planning application for new build residential homes and created a smaller scale design for the outdoor spaces for a nursery. Busy and complex!
We were extremely pleased to be invited to the opening ceremony of Annan Farm Kindergarten and Small School's new outside space. The recent completion of our Visionplan scheme for this Forest School and Froebel centred education encapsulated the ethos of outdoor learning as a catalyst for children's imagination, returning children to the wonder of the natural environment and its seasonal changes for artistic involvement, storytelling, water play, and physical activity. Special guest Tina Bruce CBE spoke of this form of education and its intrinsic link to the environment, where the new 'garden' sat beautifully within its woodland surroundings. Children had experienced the construction of the spaces as a further tool for learning, and balanced this with the fantasy and poetic enjoyment of song in their gathering space.
"The garden looks amazing and of course the children absolutely love it!"

We have recently undertaken all the landscape design work alongside a large development company and design team, for a large PFI development of residential care homes and surgery care, won over a period of months in a knock-out of 5 other selected teams. We recently gained planning permission and look forward to the developing project.
The landscape design schemes for these sites aim to assimilate the new buildings into their existing surroundings and provide beautiful, practical spaces for residents to enjoy. 'Access for All' has been a key priority for these designs as we strive to include residents who may have varying levels of mobility. The proposed designs cater to the needs of the residents while providing a comforting and relaxing backdrop for socialisation, therapy and exercise. The gardens provide a visually stimulating environment and are logically laid out for easy orientation. Intricate planting choices provide seasonal interest as different colours, scents, textures, movements and sounds enrich the landscape.

This last response was in relationship to one of the smaller, community based projects with which we were involved, which included providing plans for a local school's playground. Education is extremely important to Jenny and we are pleased to be involved in creating stimulating learning environments for children.
